Newlands Community Team Challenge - JYIP

Over 2009 our young people have been working hard to create a Community Garden on a piece of rough land behind Springfield Community Centre in Thorpe Edge, Bradford. We commissioned a local Community Service group to help lay paths and dig flower beds wich we planted up with wild flowers, a sensory garden and fruit bushes. We also planted a small orchard and a Cherry Tree avenue and installed games, a story-telling area and the CS group built an amphitheatre. Spring bulbs will give colour first followed by fruit blossom then flowers and, finally, fruit. Visitors can sit in the picnic area, enjoy the garden or look at the views over the local area.
